1. Introduce yourself and describe how your brand was started
My name is Stephen Kiser I’m a 21 year old kid from North Carolina. The brand was started on a vacation to Florida back in 2010. I have never been a follower and can’t stand to work for other people so I decided to start a clothing company, since I have a passion for action sports I decided to make it around just that. The brands mission is to go big and be krazy in everything you do in life. Always be yourself and dont change for anyone. To be honest I’m answering these questions on the ski lift at sugar mountain here in Boone nc.
2. Describe this season’s theme for your line. Include any sources of inspiration
We just released a “just doing me” tee based off of nikes popular just do it shirt.
We plan on getting some tank tops and a few decals this summer. My inspiration comes solely from wanting to push the brand. Every day I try to think of at least one new design. Whether it be a hat, hoodie, tank, tee or anything. I wanna put the best items out for people to not just wear but represent what we are about.
3. What is/was one of your most prized fashion pieces, past or present?
My most prized fashion piece that I have ever owned is probably this shirt I had when I was about 5 years old. It had a tiger face on in and the mouth flapped open so you could see the teeth . Even had the matching tiger print snap back. It was dope. I’d wear it today if I could. But on a more serious note the living the dream, let me be me and just doing me tees are just amazing and I get compliments every time I go out.
4. What’s your favorite part about conceptualizing a design?
My favorite part about creating a design is when that final image is in front of me. That joy and rush of energy is what makes this fun. I designed a few tanks for summer the other day and had to go snowboarding in honor of how good I thought they were.
5. What other experience do you have in the fashion industry (stylist, retail, marketing, etc.)?
All my experience in the fashion industry comes from what I have learned so far. When I first started out I thought I knew it all but found out pretty fast there is a lot more to this business than just printing on shirts. I want to learn more and that’s why I’m on forums and talking to people in the industry daily to see what I can do to get better.
6. What is the most difficult aspect of running your own boutique, and why? i.e. design, production, sales, finance, advertising?
The most difficult part about running this company is finding time to design,
market, and promote the brand. Unfortunately I do have a job that I have to work in order to pay for the stuff we put out. So before work im designing. On break I’m tweeting or Facebook posting on our page and after I’m doing all 3 and more. I love it though and you’ll never hear me complaining.
7. What is the best perk in being a designer?
The best perk about being a designer is the ability to bring your creativity onto a screen which ultimately ends up on your body in the form of clothes. I saw some guys wearing the shirts that I made at a local event here in nc. I don’t think I’ve ever been more happier in my life.
8. Is there anything you would like to say to the readers of WCS?
I just wanna say, to the readers of WCS, let everyone know about us. I’m no
different than any of you, just a normal kid trying to make his dreams into reality. Also thank you for reading this and supporting this awesome website and the guys behind it. And if your gonna ride then ride krazy. It’s just more fun that way!
As you can see the shirts came packaged very well. Each shirt is individually wrapped and includes a business card and decal. Quality wise these shirts can be ranked with the best. They are thick and durable. When it comes to design I appreciate the creativity presented. Little things like the Ride Krazy tag and the “KRAZY” printed on the back of the neck stood out to me. Minor details make bold statements. I especially loved that the “Living The Dream” Tee came with a wristband. Though it is a MAJOR lint collector, as all are. You can bet your bottom dollar I’m rocking it as I type this review. All in all, Ride Krazy is a brand WCS will continue to support. Prices are reasonable, shipping is fast and the quality is great. What more can you ask for?
